It has been 20 days since I started the #1000BookDec18 Challenge. This is the goal to have 1000 new books published on Amazon by December 2018. I initially started out doing 5 new books a day and then ramped it up to 10 books a day because I had a system that was working.

To date I have published an additional 182 books in those 20 days. Some days it is a real grind to have to sit down and get those books done. The problem is that I went public with my goal, which means my pride won’t let me slack off. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing. I do remember that when I climbed Kilimanjaro several years back, it was pride that would not let me quit on that last day when we reached the peak. It was hell. But I could not give up and go back home saying that I did not make it.

I know my weaknesses very well, which is the reason I went public with the goal. Because then it would get done.  Nothing quite like tricking yourself.

I started to get despondent after about 15 days because there was no change in my sales. That’s disheartening but I kept reminding myself that this is not a 100 metre dash, but a marathon. This is a long term goal and I know that this methodology works.

The same thing happened when I opened up my Etsy stores. It took months before I made a sale. Each day I added new products to the store and nada. Zip. Nothing.

Then one day I got my first sale. Then a few days later another and so they started trickling in. I am still nowhere near my target on Etsy, but each month the revenue increases.

Earl Nightingale said it perfectly: “Success is really nothing more than the progressive realization of a worthy ideal. This means that any person who knows what they are doing and where they are going is a success. Any person with a goal towards which they are working is a successful person.”

The keyword here is progressive

So here is my message for you. Just keep doing what you know you have to do. Each day. And it will pay off.

This morning I did an analysis of my income over the last year. From this time last year to now, my revenue from all my online business ventures has increased by 300%. That means I have more than doubled my monthly income. Sometimes you have to look back just to see how far you have come.

And just this week I saw a surge in my book sales on Amazon.

My secret for getting everything done each day is the system I have put in place based on my favourite principles:

  1. Re-purpose whatever I create into multiple products
  2. Do the work once and get paid for ever
  3. Automate as much as possible
  • Step 1: Create the day’s journals.
  • Step 2: Add the journals to my Etsy store as spiral bound and PDF if applicable.
  • Step 3: Add a Commercial Use product to my other Etsy store.
  • Step 4: Add a new t-shirt design to my t-shirt store.
  • Step 5: Do my social media marketing and answer any questions in my various Facebook groups
  • Step 6: Answer any emails that require my attention.
  • Step 7: Complete client work.
  • Step 8: Record any training or marketing videos for the next day.
  • Step 9: Now I spend time researching new ideas for products and training.

Now that may seem like a lot of work, but if you have the systems in place this will get faster and faster. Most days I am done by 2 pm. Admittedly I do start at 6 am (I am an early bird) but that is a full day’s worth of work and now I can relax by reading, going for a walk or watching a movie.

So please don’t give up your dreams. If you need a pep talk then please contact me via the contact form and I will give you some encouragement.

By the way, don’t forget the freebie that I have available. You can use it for your book covers or any printable products you are working on.

Have a fantastic week.
